Ethan, Mom and Dad

Love. Love. Love this family. Couldn't you just get lost in this little guys' eyes? Ethan turned a year a couple of months ago and came in to get his pictures taken with his family. I got the distinct privilege of chasing him to "get the shot". Let me know which one is your favorite -- I just couldn't decide.

Wednesday Wisdom

Wednesday Wisdom: So some of you have inquired about how to make your pictures even better. Although I am not all-knowing, I have a learned a little about what makes a good photo that I am more than happy to share. So every

Wednesday I will put up another tip to help you make better photos.

Tip #1: Avoid standing in line.
No, this doesn't mean you should stop visiting Wal-Mart at 9:00 on a Saturday night (when no one is working and there is only one line open -- grr!!) but rather watch to ensure that your subject's heads are at different levels. Think of your subjects' heads as notes on a scale -- does your picture sing a lovely melody or is it more monotone? Try to encourage the viewer's eye to move through the picture and then start again -- looking at each person's face one more time. Here is an example of what to do and what not to do... See if you agree. Thanks and see you next week.

Zoie at 3 months | Farmington, NM child photographer | Liz Applegate

Zoie is getting bigger. I hardly recognized her. I did her newborns what seemed like such a short time ago and now she's that much bigger AND CUTER! Take a look...

Tyler, Kevin and Mom and Dad | Farmington, NM child photographer | Liz Applegate

Couldn't you just eat these little boys? They are so cute! I have watched them grow from little guys to bigger little guys. Kevin comes over and just talks and talks to us -- carrying on every bit as good a conversation as any adult. He is so full of curiosity. Little Tyler is a little more leery of us, but warmed up by the end of this shoot. Couldn't you just get lost in their eyes?

Mandi and Justin | Farmington, NM engagement photographer | Liz Applegate

So this couple decided to perform a Johnny-on-the-spot vow exchange and then take some engagement pics. The bigger celebration will be in July and I am so looking forward to that. Take a look.

I love this first one. It is Mandi's face during the vow exchange. I just adore her pure love shown for Justin...

Liam - newborn

This little guy was so cute. He was only 12 days old and all I wanted to do was love on him. I LOVE the smell of newborns. So fresh. So new. Love. Love. Love.

He, however, had different ideas. He just wanted Mom, to eat and to be left alone to sleep. Ahh! Wouldn't that be the life?! Anyway, take a look at little Liam.

Isn't this the epitome of sleeping bliss. Love his face on this one (below)...

Senior girl Gina | Farmington, NM Senior | Liz Applegate

Isn't she beautiful? Well I found she is beautiful both inside and out. She was so nice and so kind to her mother. Thanks Gina.

Junior's Seniors

Okay, so this guy is truly the nicest guy ever. He showed up early for our shoot (timing was a little crazy) and when I showed up -- I had forgotten the camera! How do you forget the camera?! Where was my head?! AAAAAGH! He was so nice about it and waited so patiently while I met my daughter half way and then we had such a nice shoot. Truly a VERY nice guy...

The cutest one year old...

This little girl was so smart. She could do "so big", quack like a duck (which really came in handy when we actually saw one), put up how many fingers she was, walk like the cutest little drunken sailor you ever saw, and smile like a champ. Thanks so much for sharing her with me...
